Mercy picnic benefits kids
June 26, 2008
On May 18, we celebrated the 13th
annual Mercy Kids picnic. Originally called Digg's picnic, the
name was changed to honor, and in memory of, Dick Anthony, who
with his wife Nancy, started this wonderful event which benefits
Mercy Healthcare programs for children.
Approximately 20 teams participated
in the food contest in which entries were submitted for judging
and winners awarded prizes. The food was scrumptious.
Special thanks to Nancy Anthony
who really sparked the event. Thanks also to Lisa. She and Pam
from Mercy Foundation, and Dan Hern for his friendship in serving
as our auctioneer. The highlight of the day was the presentation
of roller skates to a young woman who was unable to walk a year
ago.
Please come and join us next year.
It's always the Sunday after Mother's Day. Mark your calendars,
and call Mercy Foundation for details. This was truly Roseburg
at its finest.
